Blepharoplasty

Wrinkles and sagging skin on the upper eye lid are not just aesthetic issues. They can lead to a reduced field of vision. The upper blepharoplasty comprises minor outpatient surgery to reduce the excess skin.

Sagging skin and tear sacks on the lower eye lid can be reduced with a lower blepharoplasty. A tiny almost unnoticeable scar beneath the eyelash or at the back of the eyelid results from excision of the excess skin. In the same surgery the skin stick to the orbital rim is loosened and the area can then be filled with the body’s own fat tissue in order to smooth the facial symmetry.

A blepharoplasty results in a fresher, natural appearance. Both surgeries are often combined and performed as an outpatient procedure.

Duration of the surgery:

approximately 30-60 minutes

Anaesthetics:

local anaesthetic with sedation, outpatient procedure

Recovery:

swelling and bruises for 7-10 days, small plasters on the scar for about 1 week

Normally fit for flying after 1 week
